Hi, welcome to the Chrisalis Counselling website, my name is Chrissy.
I am a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Trauma Informed Therapist, offering counselling and psychotherapy.
I offer both face-to-face and online sessions, short and long term sessions, for adults and young people over age 18 years.
I am a registered member of the BACP - British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.
Overview
When life events, feelings, recent or past traumatic events become overwhelming, it can feel so hard to cope with things on your own and often hard to reach out to family or friends. But you don't have to do it alone, we all need a bit of help sometimes and change is possible.
By offering you a safe, confidential, empathetic, and non-judgemental space, where you can talk freely and explore your thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour, with someone who is trained to help you make sense of any issues or concerns.
We can work together at your own pace, to explore what you need, to make the changes you want.
I will not tell you how to live your life or what you should do, however I may well offer some reflections, maybe gently challenge some thought processes, or notice some patterns and bring them into awareness, so that you can make the changes that you want to.
“When a flower isn’t flourishing, we don’t change the flower, we change the environment”.
Working together, we can change the environment.
How I Work
I work using an integrative approach. This means I am informed by and blend various theoretical approaches, which I can tailor to suit your need as an individual client. These include:
Person-Centred Therapy
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
CBT – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT - Trauma Focused
Transactional Analysis
Humanistic Therapies
Existential Therapy
Mindfulness
Animal-assisted Therapy
Somatic Intelligence
Polyvagal Theory
Other therapies
(Click here if you would like to understand more about what some of these approaches mean, on a very basic level.)
I work with a holistic approach i.e. looking at the whole person, understanding that we are connected mentally, physically, emotionally… and spiritually, [whatever that may, or may not, look like to you as a client].
I also work using somatic intelligence, helping to acknowledge and release how emotions and trauma are stored in our bodies.
However, you are in control and are at the centre of the therapy.
A therapist’s role is not to ‘fix’ you, or diagnose you, but to sit with you whilst you heal. To listen to you, to hear you, be alongside you with your pain, and help understand and navigate you towards a better, happier place.
